How much material can the K-IC 70 crush per hour?

The K-IC 70 Compact Impact Crusher is rated at up to 90 US tons per hour. Powered by a 100 hp Tier 4 Final diesel engine with a 25” × 20” inlet opening and weighing approximately 28,600 pounds, the K-IC 70 delivers the same throughput ceiling as the K-JC 704 PLUS jaw crusher but through a fundamentally different crushing mechanism — one that produces a distinctly different end product. For operations where output shape and gradation matter as much as raw production volume, the K-IC 70 is the right tool.

The “up to” production rating refers to the maximum potential output a machine can achieve under ideal conditions—this includes consistent feed material (size, hardness, and moisture), skilled operator use, proper setup, and minimal downtime. For example, clean concrete with no rebar, fed at a steady rate in optimal weather, will produce higher output than mixed, wet, or irregular materials. Every job site is different, which is why we emphasize that this is not a guaranteed or average output, but a best-case scenario metric. If you’re unsure what output to expect for your application, we’re always happy to review your material and help you model realistic results.

Impact crushers are more sensitive to material hardness and abrasiveness than jaw crushers. The K-IC 70 performs at its best on concrete, asphalt, and softer natural stone — materials that fracture cleanly under impact. On highly abrasive material like hard granite or silica-rich rock, blow bar wear accelerates significantly, increasing operating cost and reducing effective throughput as blow bars degrade between changes. Actual production on any given material depends on hardness, feed size, moisture, and feed consistency — factors best evaluated by running the machine on your specific material during a demonstration.

The trade-off for the higher wear rate on abrasive material is product quality. Impact crushing produces a more cubical, well-graded aggregate compared to the more angular, flaky product from jaw crushing. If your end product needs to meet DOT spec aggregate requirements or you’re processing reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) for reuse in paving operations, the K-IC 70’s output profile is often worth the additional wear cost.

The K-IC 70 produces output ranging from approximately ¾” to 3¼”, adjustable by setting the apron gap via the wireless remote control. Tighter apron settings produce finer, more cubical output with higher fines content; wider settings increase throughput with a coarser product. For operations targeting clean, spec-grade recycled aggregate or high-quality RAP reduction, pairing the K-IC 70 with a downstream Kompatto screener allows you to classify the output into separated fractions and return oversized material to the crusher for reprocessing.

The K-IC 70 accepts feed material through a 25” × 20” inlet opening. That is a generously sized inlet for a compact impact crusher, allowing it to accept larger feed pieces without pre-reduction. However, impact crushers are more sensitive to oversize feed than jaw crushers — excessively large or irregular pieces can damage blow bars or cause uneven wear. Consistent feeding within the inlet dimension, with material pre-sized where possible, protects the rotor and maximizes blow bar life.

On material type, the K-IC 70 is optimized for concrete, asphalt, and softer natural stone. It is particularly effective for reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) reduction, where the impact mechanism breaks the aged binder coating off the aggregate and produces a well-graded, cubical output that performs consistently in repaving applications. It also handles brick, block, and mixed masonry well. For highly abrasive hard rock, a jaw crusher is generally the more cost-effective choice; the K-IC 70 excels where product quality is the priority.
